The FVB Wood Shop

The FVB wood shop, located on the second floor of the Atrium, provides residents (who are members of the wood shop) access to a variety of modern woodworking power and hand tools.

The latest addition to the shop is a contractor-grade 10" table saw, the Sawstop model CNS 175.
It's availability is pending the installation of a suitable dust collection system.

This saw has a safety feature that will automatically and instantly stop the saw should the blade encounter a person's finger or hand, wood with a moisture content high enough to be mistaken for a human part, or certain other materials. Unfortunately, in the process of stopping the blade, it and the mechanism that stops it are destroyed, and must be replaced with new (and expensive) parts. The saw thus becomes unavailable for anyone's use until new parts are acquired, and repairs made. Therefore, the usage of the equipment requires a careful study and understanding of the procedures for its usage.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS SAW UNLESS YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS GUIDE:
